'Community tensions high' in Ballymena after man is charged with possessing indecent images of children, court hears
A police officer has told a court "community tensions are high" in Ballymena after a man was charged with possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children.
Jefferson John Watters (57), with an address listed as Lewis Park in the town, is charged in relation to between February 5-12 this year.
He was in the dock at Ballymena Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 12.
A police officer told the court: "Community tensions are high in the area and for his own safety it wouldn't be advisable for him to go back to that address".

A defence solicitor said there were "community difficulties" in relation to the defendant and there was "graffiti on walls".
The defendant was given bail in the sum of £500 to an address to be approved by police. He is not to enter Ballymena; is not to access the internet; and he is not to be unsupervised in the company of anyone under the age of 18.
The case was adjourned to March 26.
