Lisburn man (36) handed jail term for attempted robbery of supermarket
A man has been given a prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to attempted robbery of a supermarket in Lisburn.
Michael Morgan (36), with an address listed as Linen Wood, Old Warren, Lisburn, was also sentenced on possession of offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of class C controlled drug.
He appeared before Craigavon Crown Court on Tuesday (March 10) and was sentenced to 38 months imprisonment, serving half in custody and half on licence.

Speaking after the hearing, Detective Inspector Keon said: “Our officers launched an investigation after a report that a man matching Morgan’s description was in the Warren Gardens store on 7th March 2025 and had brandished a large knife at staff.
“He had tried to steal money from the cash register before running from the store empty-handed. Following our extensive enquiries, we identified the suspect and he was arrested on the same day.”
DI Keon added “this would have been a terrifying encounter for the staff”.
