Lisburn man clocked driving Mini Cooper at 91mph on the Glenavy Road
A man has been fined and given penalty points after he was caught driving at 91mph on the Glenavy Road in Lisburn.
Edward Scott, aged 62, whose address was given as Old School House Mews in Lisburn, appeared before the city’s magistrates court charged with driving at excess speed.
The court heard that on August 26, 2024 police were carrying out a mobile detection operation on the Glenavy Road in Lisburn.
Officers observed the defendant driving a Mini Cooper northbound.

The speed was recorded as 91mph in a 60mph zone.
A defence lawyer told the court the defendant had a clean driving licence.
"He has never been before the court before,” he continued. "He wholly accepts his speed was totally unacceptable.
"The car was too powerful for him and he has sold that on.
"He needs his licence for work.”
District Judge Rosie Watters imposed a fine of £200, an offender’s levy of £15, and endorsed the defendant’s driving licence with five penalty points.
