Motorist using hand held mobile phone was 'concerned about Larne Leisure Centre arson'
A court was told a motorist using a hand-held mobile phone was concerned about a person who was working in Larne Leisure Centre on the day of an arson attack during street disturbances last summer.
John Baxter (23), of Sallagh Park North, Larne, admitted using a hand-held mobile whilst driving in the town and having improper number plates on June 11 last year.
A defence barrister told Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday (March 19) that the detections happened on the day of an arson attack at Larne Leisure Centre.

"The defendant had received a phone call, he was in distress. His wife was working in the leisure centre."
The lawyer said that the defendant pulled in to a car park but police spotted him on the phone before he stopped. The number plate matters then came to light.
The defendant was given six penalty points and was also fined £250.
