South Derry motorist caught driving without insurance on the outskirts of Stewartstown handed seven-day ban
A South Derry motorist stopped in a van on the outskirts of Stewartstown, has lost his licence for seven days for having no insurance.
Thirty-six-year-old Marek Przyczka from Glenelly Villas, Draperstown, was also fined £150 with a £15 offender’s levy arising out of the offence on January 22.
Dungannon Magistrates Court was told on Friday that police stopped the vehicle in the Hillhead Road area of Stewartstown.
Prosecuting counsel said enquiries showed the defendant did not have insurance for the van and it was then seized by the police.

A defence lawyer explained the van had sat unused at the defendant’s house and he had planned to get it MoT’d, taxed and sell it.
He said he has an insurance policy covering two different vehicles but this one had not been added to it.
Counsel said he planned to take it to Cookstown to get it MoT’d for a couple of hours.
