Covenantparade for City Grand Lodge

THE Officers and members of the City Grand Orange Lodge will be among the brethren stepping out on September 29 as part of the Ulster Covenant Centenary celebrations in Belfast.

Buses will leave Londonderry adjacent to the former Health Centre on Glendermott Road at 7.30am, and those wishing to take part should contact the following: No 1 District and No.4 District, Colin Campbell, No.5 Distirct, Stephen Burns, No.2 District will leave from Claudy, No.3 District (Donegal) to make own arrangements.

The City of Londonderry, Co Londonderry buses will come off the motorway at Broadway Roundabout, travelling down Donegall Road to Sandy Row and disembark at that location.

Each County is allocated an area in the rally location. Londonderry City is to assemble at rally point 7 (Albion Street and St George’s Gardens Estate), and Londonderry County at rally point 8 (Stroud Street and streets off). Those taking part with the Apprentice Boys are asked to assemble at rally point 10 (Albion Street and St George’s Gardens Estate).

Members are encouraged to attend the religious service.

At the conclusion of the open air service the return parade will assemble at 4pm and move off at 4.15pm and lead Grand Lodge Belfast County will proceed down to Massey Avenue, Belmont Road, Holywood Road, Newtownards Road, Bridge End, Queen’s Bridge, Ann Street, Victoria Street, High Street, Castle Junction, Royal Avenue, Upper Donegall Street, Clifton Street, and disperse at Belfast Orange Hall.

Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4, and 7/8, will disperse as per the annual Twelfth of July arrangements.

Parking arrangements for buses for the City of Londonderry, Co Londonderry and Apprentice Boys: Assemble on the high road on the Belfast side of the statue and follow Co Armagh and Border Counties to the car parks allocated to them. City of Londonderry, Park No.3; Apprentice Boys, Park No.5 and Londonderry County, car park No.4.

Due to the large number of Brethren involved organisers have appealed for all to heed the instructions of the marshals.

The Ladies Association are welcome to march with the Londonderry Brethren, however, they may have their own arrangements.

In Belfast the Ladies Association will join the procession at Knock traffic lights, falling in at the rear of the Grand Lodge Officers and their guests.
