In a Facebook post, the Woodburn Road-based club said: “The management and members are keen to help out in the local community. To that end we will be utilising our club communications to support those that are in need of assistance.

“Any requirements such as shopping, collecting prescriptions etc for anyone in need regardless of whether or not you are a member, please contact this page and our President William McKeown will coordinate assistance where we can.”

It’s the latest in a series of community-led initiatives to reach out to those in need of help.

Carrickfergus Cricket Club has acted as a drop-off point for donations of food and household items.

And members of Carrickfergus Defenders Flute Band prepared and distributed over 100 care packages to at-risk residents after a donation drive over the weekend.
