The Walled City Brewery, which will be based at Building 70 at Ebrington Square, will create premium quality beer. It will be brewed on site under the tutelage of local man James Huey, who has 12 years experience in premium breweries in Ireland. The business will support 10 jobs.

Ilex’s Business Manager, Niall McGurk said: “The Walled City Brewery is a welcome addition to Ebrington and fits perfectly with the Development Framework which seeks to attract new business and employment opportunities as a driver for creative and economic growth. It will also be a new tourist attraction for the city and will ultimately support six full-time and four part time jobs. Interestingly, early Victorian maps show a brewery adjacent to Ebrington located at the bottom of Browning Drive. Visitors to the brewery will get a guided tour, see the brewing process at first hand, andhave the opportunity to taste and purchase the products on site”.
