Son of William and Agnes Jackson, he grew up in Belfast where he attended Saintfield Road Presbyterian Church but his home church is Hill Street Presbyterian, Lurgan.

Formerly an RE teacher at Carrickfergus Grammar School, he was called to the ministry through friends in the ministry who saw the kind of Bible teaching he was doing at a grammar school and suggested that he should do that work full-time for the church.

That began a process which ended with his successful application as a student for the Presbyterian ministry last March 2013. Craig commenced training at Union Theological College, Belfast in September 2013 and will be licensed in May/June 2016.

After serving a further two years as a full-time assistant in a congregation yet to be determined, Craig will be eligible for a call in September 2018.
