Craigavon man may be victim of Australian road crash

A Craigavon man is believed to have died in a road crash in Australia.

The Western Australian has said that “a 28-year-old man is dead after a single-vehicle crash near Coolgardie yesterday afternoon” November 22 their time.

He had lived in Kalgoorlie and was a passenger in a blue Toyota Landcruiser wagon travelling on unsealed road surface south-west on Callian-Ora Banda Road around 3pm.

It is understood that the PSNI visited the family home today to deliver the sad news.

No details were available from the PSNI.

However the newspaper Western Australian stated:

At the junction with Coolgardie North Road the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate the bend and lost control.

The driver, a 24-year-old Kalgoorlie man, over corrected the vehicle which left the road surface and rolled several times, which came to rest on its roof.

The rear passenger, the 28 year old man was thrown from the vehicle and suffered life threatening injuries. He died at the scene.

The front seat passenger, a 24 year old Kalgoorlie man suffered minor injuries.

It is believed both passengers in the vehicle were not wearing their seatbelts at the time.

The driver who was wearing a seatbelt at the time suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Kalgoorlie Health Campus for medical treatment.

Major Crash investigators are seeking any witnesses who may have seen the crash or the blue Landcruiser wagon prior to the crash.
