Craigs get in the saddle for 5,000km bike ride

A LARNE motorcycling enthusiasts is gearing up today (Thursday) for a mega bike ride which will boost the coffers of the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

Craig Warren, from Larne and Bangor man Craig Walsh are aiming to visit 11 countries on the European continent in 10 days – covering 5,000 kilometres – onboard their BMW bikes.

The adventure, dubbed Where2Now, came about after the pair discussed going for “a long bike ride” and raising money for charity at the same time.

Macmillan was chosen as the beneficiary because both Craigs have experienced cancer at first-hand in their respective families.

To date the pair, who both work for ferry company Stena Line, have raised over £2,600 for Macmillan through various fundraising activities.

They have completed a sponsored static cycle and a sponsored walk onboard one of Stena Line’s ships and held a pub quiz, raffles and collections for Macmillan.

Craig Walsh, who has been riding for over five years, and Craig Warren, who has been on the saddle for about two years, are still looking for sponsorship to cover fuel and other costs.

Their target for the Where2Now project is to raise “as much money as possible” for Macmillan.
