Craigs Wood / Broad Stone Walk

Ballymoney Borough Council in association with the Bank of Ireland welcomes everyone to come along on this 4.5 mile circular walk to two of Ballymoney’s finest examples of Neolithic tombs, the Broad Stone and Craigs Dolmen, both in State Care.

These Stone Age monuments represent the existence of early settlers some 4,000-6,000 years ago.

The walk starts and finishes in Craig’s Wood, a Forest Service property on the Long Mountain. Ballymoney museum and Forest Service staff will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions. To allow an opportunity to view nearby Craigs Dolmen, 1.5 miles of this walk will be on a quiet public road. Bring warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy boots. The walk costs £2 per person with a family concession of £5. Although relatively flat, there are stiles to cross and the going may be wet in places.
