As he approached a junction a car, driven by the defendant, was coming towards him on the wrong side of the road.

The injured party tried to swerve but there was a collision which caused considerable damage and the victim had to be taken by ambulance to hospital with injuries to his shoulder and neck.

The defendant told police he didn’t know how he crashed.

CCTV showed clearly he was driving on the wrong side of the road.

Rutkauskas pleaded guilty himself in the court.

District Judge, Mrs Bernie Kelly, said that after the ban ended the defendant would have to sit and pass the appropriate driving test before he could get back on the road.
