Creative opportunities for August Craft Month

ALTHOUGH many of the one day workshops and masterclasses at Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart have already filled up, there are still some places left on a number of workshops we’re offering as part of August Craft Month.

Places are still left on Catherine Keenan’s very popular Lampworking workshops, offering students the chance to make glass beads for jewellery. These take place over a couple of two-day workshops, one on August 7 and 8, and another on August 28 and 29.

The fee for each two-day workshop is £85, which includes all tution, materials costs etc.

You can still find a place on Lesley Frew’s popular one day workshop on Saturday, August 11, allowing you the chance to make jewellery from recycled plastic bags.

The creations that Lesley develops out of old plastic bags really have to be seen to be believed - you, too, could make your own work of art that would be a real talking point among friends (see the necklace, above) - the fee is only £35.

Places are also still available on the Feltmaking Workshop with Nicola Farrell on Saturday, August 18 - Nicola’s Christmas feltmaking workshop was a real hit, and this one should also be a wonderful day of fun and creativity. The fee is only £35, and this includes materials costs.

For all of the workshops, you can find out more by calling the reception staff at Flowerfield on (028) 7083 1400.
