Ballycastle Police news

Police arrested a 39 year old man on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage on Monday 04 August. The arrest followed an incident in Cushendall on the evening of Monday 04 August in which a man was assaulted. Police enquiries are continuing.

Police arrested a 47 year old man in the North Street area of Ballycastle on a bench warrant.

Detectives are investigating the burglary of a house on the Magheramore Road, Ballycastle. The burglary is thought to have happened sometime between Friday 01 August and Tuesday 05 August. Cash, jewellery and electrical items were taken from the house. Police enquiries are continuing but anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area across the four day period is asked to call local police on the non-emergency number 101.

Police received a report of the theft of home heating oil from a house on Gortanclochair Park, Ballycastle. The theft is thought to have happened at some point over the past two weeks.

Police received a report of a bathroom window having been broken on the night of Friday 08 August. The cause of the damage is yet to be established.

Police received a report of a fight in the Mill Street area of Cushendall in the early hours of Saturday 09 August. Police are looking into two potential assaults during the fracas.

Police arrested a 26 year old man in the Stroanshesk area of Ballycastle on suspicion of criminal damage on Saturday 09 August. He was then further arrested for criminal damage to a police vehicle. The male has been released to be reported to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
