14-year-old arrested outside teenage disco in Cookstown

A 14-year-old boy who is thought to have been in attendance at a teenage disco in Cookstown on Friday night, has been accused of assaulting police.

An eye witness told the Mail the youngster had been “annoying police” before his arrest on suspicion of resisting police and an alleged assault on an officer.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “A 14-year-old male was arrested in Molesworth Street in Cookstown on Friday 7 October, on suspicion of disorderly behaviour, resisting police and assault on police.

“He was subsequently released pending a report to the Youth Diversion Officer.”

So far, the youngster has not been charged with any offences in relation to the alleged incident.

Northern Ireland Ambulance Service was also called to the scene following reports of an incident at 10.50pm. But they said no one was taken to hospital.
