15-year-old arrested by police 'cruising round' NI town

Police are asking parents to ensure they know of the whereabouts of their children after a 15-year-old was arrested driving a car in Magherafelt.

They said in a social media post that the vehicle tried to make off from police patrolling the town yesterday.

"During one such patrol today on the Station Road area in Magherafelt, this wagon attempted to make off when we attempted to stop it. Didn't get too far.

"It wasn't one of our regulars, but it was a 15 year old kid out driving and clearly up to no good.

"Arrested and currently being dealt with for a host of offences."

"It would be ridiculous that crews were tied up most of the afternoon dealing with this if it was a normal day, but even worse in the current circumstances.

"When we ask 'Where are your kids?' If the answer is 'Cruisin round the felt in a 2 litre Jetta' then you really need to do something about it."
