18-year-old arrested after man sustains ‘serious head injury’ in Glengormley

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an assault in Glengormley on Saturday night (May 29) when another 18-year-old sustained a serious head injury.

Police said this morning (Monday) that detectives investigating the assault have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of GBH with intent.

They confirmed he is currently in police custody at this time.

Police had appealed for witnesses to the assault, which happened in Farmley Road shortly before 8pm.

It was reported that an 18-year-old male was walking in area close to commercial premises with two females when he was assaulted by an unknown male.

The victim was punched and kicked in the face by the other man, who was with a female at the time of the incident.

The assailant then made off towards Tramways following the assault.

The victim was taken to hospital and is being treated for a serious head injury.
