Appeal over 'serious assault' in Larne

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in the area of Laharna Retail Park in Larne on Monday, June 1.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “A report was received at around 9.30pm on Monday evening that a man, aged in his 40s, had been assaulted by a number of males.

“The man sustained serious head injuries as a result of the assault and was taken to hospital where he remains today in a critical condition.

“Officers investigating the incident have arrested four men aged 25, 29, 31 and 45 on suspicion of attempted murder. All four men are currently in custody assisting with police enquiries. “

In an appeal for witnesses, detectives investigating the incident added: “Were you on the Main Street in Larne between 9pm and 9.30 pm? Did you see any persons being chased or acting suspiciously?

“Were you in the car parks of Laharna Retail Park in Larne between 9pm and 9.30pm? Did you notice a grey Fiesta in the car park or any suspicious behaviour?

“Did you travel along Broadway in Larne or the alleyways leading to the retail park between 9 pm and 9.30pm? Did you notice any males being chased or acting suspiciously?
