Banned for 20 months

A DRIVING ban of 20 months was imposed on a Craigavon man last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for an excess alcohol offence.

Twenty-five-year old Stephen Graham, of Pinebank, Craigavon, was also fined £250 for the offence. On completion of a drink drivers’ course the ban would be reduced by five months.

As well he was fined £100 and banned for 12 months for not having insurance, £50 and banned for six months for not having a licence and £50 and another concurrent six month disqualification for taking the car without the owner’s consent.

The court heard that on February 18 Graham was seen driving along the Old Portadown Road in Lurgan and he was stopped in Gilpin Mews.

He stumbled out of the car and failed a breath test. An evidential test gave a reading of 69 which was 34 over the limit.

A solicitor for the defendant said it was his fiancée’s car and he foolishly decided to drive home.
