Colin Peel (44), Avenue Road, appeared last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court where he admitted four charges of assault on police. For each offence he was fined £150.

The court heard that on November 28 last year at 10.55pm police received a report concerning the defendant and went to his address. They went to a rear bedroom where they found Peel in bed. They spoke to him but he became aggressive and told them to ‘f—k off’.

Police waited for the arrival of an ambulance and the defendant again was aggressive.

He tried to block the bedroom door and spat in an officer’s face.

Arm and leg restraints were used but he kicked out and made contact with an officer’s chest.

Peel was taken to the police vehicle where he tried to head-butt a constable and at the hospital he was again abusive to officers.

Mr Richard Monteith, representing Peel, handed in a doctor’s report to the court.
