Broughshane man on attempted murder charge

A 44-year-old Broughshane man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident in Glenarm.

Robert John Nelson, of Knowehead Hill, appeared at Coleraine Magistrate’s Court on Monday. .

It is understood the accused was arrested in Broughshane in the early hours of Saturday morning, April 28, after shots were fired through the front window of a house in the Drumcrow Road area of Glenarm.

He was also charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and failing to comply with a condition of a firearm certificate.

Nelson was remanded in custody to appear via video link at Larne Magistrate’s Court on May 11.

On Saturday police said they believed that up to 4 shots were fired through the front window of a house in the Drumcrow area. Three people who were inside the house at the time were uninjured but left badly shaken.
