Carrickfergus police receive ‘multiple reports’ of cold calling

Police are warning householders to be alert after “multiple reports” of cold calling in Carrickfergus today (Wednesday).

Mid and East Antrim PSNI added: “These type of incidents can happen at any location across the area. Please check the identity of any unexpected callers , you won’t offend anyone by asking and legitimate callers should be in possession of Identification.”

Police went on to issue the following the advice:

Most callers to your home will be genuine, however if you are in any doubt simply ask for their ID and check the caller out. Quick Check is a telephone service which is available 24 hours a day all year round in Northern Ireland. Just call 101 and ask for Quick Check.
