Collisiion: Teenager arrested

A 17-year-old youth was arrested after a motorcycle scrambler collided with a police car in Londonderry on Saturday evening.

Inspector Jonny Hunter said that following the incident at Northland Road, the rider and pillion passenger ran off, but the rider was detained by police.

“He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without authority and driving without insurance.”

The youth was later released on bail pending further enquires.

Meanwhile, three youths were arrested after a car was stolen in Lisfannon Park in the Bogside in the early hours of Sunday.

Then shortly after 5.30am, the car was spotted abandoned at Balloughry Road. An attempt had been made to set it on fire.

Three arrests were made on Sunday afternoon. The youths, all aged 16, were bailed pending further enquiries.
