Community service imposed
A Dungiven man convicted of assault was given a 200-hour community service order and ordered to pay compensation of £300 at Limavady Magistrates Court.
In the dock was Shane O’Connor (42) of Sheascan View, who assaulted another male on July 26, last year at a bar in Foreglen. The injured party fell to the ground when punched in the face by O’Connor, who also kicked him to the head.
District Judge Liam McNally said jail was the norm, but he took into account O’Connor’s plea of guilt.
