Compensation order is imposed

A man who smashed a window of a Waterside bar was ordered to pay compensation to charity when he appeared before Londonderry Magistrates’ Court charged with criminal damage.

Paul Joseph McGeehan (23), of Carnhill, pleaded guilty to committing an act of criminal damage on November 7, last year, when he punched and smashed a window at the Ritz Bar on Spencer Road.

The court was told he had paid for the damage.

District Judge Barney McElholm imposed a conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £150 to Foyle Search and Rescue.
