Computer scam warning

Police in G District are warning the public to be vigilant following reports of a possible scam.

Residents in Eglinton recently reported receiving calls from a male purporting to represent a well known computer software company informing them that their computers had been targeted by a virus. In some instances the caller requested the computer owner push a series of buttons to give him control of the system.

Police are warning local people to be vigilant and protect themselves against unscrupulous criminals who are constantly identifying and developing new methods to defraud innocent people.
