Constable Carroll’s killers sentenced

THE two dissident terrorists convicted of the murder of Banbridge police constable, Stephen Carroll, have been sentenced at Belfast Crown Court.

Brendan McConville (41) of Glenholme Avenue, Craigavon, and John Paul Wootton (21) of Collindale, Lurgan, were handed down sentences of 25 years and 14 years respectively.

A third defendant, Sharon Wootton, was given a 12-month sentence suspended for three years for obstructing police in their investigation.
