While he was being escorted away he became aggressive shouting obscenities and telling police to ‘f*** off’, the lawyer said.

Counsel said police attempted to take him home in a police vehicle but he continued to be aggressive and shouted obscenities at the officers.

There was no one at his home and they left him in the care of another person, the lawyer added.

A defence solicitor explained Bodak is from Hungary and has been living in the country for 11 years and currently finds himself unemployed.

He said at the time of the offence the defendant had fallen into hard times and is now trying to sort himself out.

The lawyer stressed Bodak had little recollection of the incident before the court because he had taken excess alcohol.

Passing sentence, Deputy District Judge Sean O’Hare remarked that there were no aggravating factors in the case.
