Coronavirus: Police issue advice to vulnerable residents

Police across Antrim and Newtownabbey are urging vulnerable residents to be cautious during the current coronavirus outbreak and not to fall victim to scams.

The move comes after a number of community-based support groups were established to help people during the covid-19 pandemic.

Urging residents to be careful, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are becoming increasingly aware of members of the public trying to assist our vulnerable residents.

“This is a timely reminder that those residents who need assistance and/or help with tasks on a daily basis take care when choosing who to ask for help.

“Some residents are providing private and personal details which may lead them to becoming a victim of crime. Don’t become an easy target and don’t provide your bank account details or bank cards to someone you don’t know.
