Court hears of assault on official

At Londonderry Magistrates Court last week a 29-year-old man appeared on a charge of assault.

In the dock was Robert Fisher, with an address at Ivy Mead Mews, who pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting the former SDLP councillor Jimmy Carr.

Fisher denied a second charge, that of making a threat to kill the former SDLP councillor.

The Court heard that the assault occurred on May 6, this year, when the former councillor was canvassing in the Carnhill area during the recent election campaign.

Fisher will appear in court again on August 11.
