Constable James Smyth told The Coleraine Times: “The coal was taken in 40kg bags, which are unique because they cannot be sold legally in Northern Ireland and were destined for the Republic of Ireland.

“I would ask that anyone who knows anything about the theft or has been offered a 40kg bag for coal for sale recently contact police on the non-emergency number 101. Or, you can provide information in confidence via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
