Crown Court trial for murder accused

Three men accused of the murder of Craigavon man David Neill have been remanded for trial to the Crown Court.

Daniel McCartney, aged 19, from Craigavon but currently in custody at Hydebank Young Offenders Centre faces one murder charge and two counts of criminal damage.

He is accused of murdering Mr Neill on September 16 last year, and damaging Mr Neill’s house windows and car window the day before. Mr Neill died after being stabbed close to his Parkmore home following an altercation.

He was remanded in custody.

Also in the dock was 28-year-old Kevin McCartney, whose address was given as Thompson House, Antrim Road, Belfast. He is on summons with extensive bail conditions to appear at the Crown Court for trial.

The third man to face a charge of murdering David Neill is Neimontas Deividas from Enniskeen, Craigavon.

The 18-year-old appeared in the dock with an interpreter. Deividas is out own his own bail with restrictions.

District Judge Mervyn Bates said he was satisfied there was a prima facia case to answer. The judge reiterated the bail restrictions to the latter two. He referred the case to the Craigavon Crown Court for trial.

The trio face arraignment at Laganside Court on October 18.
