A man who damaged a door in a flat at Oldtown Street, Cookstown, after being assaulted, was given a four-month suspended jail sentence at East Tyrone Magistrates Court on Friday.

A man who damaged a door in a flat at Oldtown Street, Cookstown, after being assaulted, was given a four-month suspended jail sentence at East Tyrone Magistrates Court on Friday.

Mark Sell (31) with an address at Grove Street, Lisburn, admitted a charge of criminal damage on June 17 2017.

A defence lawyer said Sell was covered in blood after the assault and reacted by damaging the door.

The judge said he would not make a compensation order.
