Dead animals dumped outside Cookstown

A NUMBER of animal carcasses have been found dumped on a secluded road outside Cookstown.

The dead calves were found on the Glassmullagh Road at the weekend. It is thought they had been there for sometime.

The Assembly member said: “It was brought to my attention that a number of dead animal livestock had been dumped on the Glassmullagh Road just outside Cookstown. As the photographs demonstrate these calves had been lying for some days.

“This is most concerning given the speed with which diseases can be transmitted to other livestock, and I condemn the mindless behaviour of those responsible.

“Such thoughtless actions could have a negative impact on both the local environment and nearby farming businesses. I commend the swift action of the council who worked quickly to ensure the animals were lifted and disposed of appropriately and I urge anyone with any detail of illegal dumping on this, or any other, road to get in touch with the authorities immediately.”
