Domestic waste dumped outside Newtownabbey homes

Contractors were tasked to remove waste items from a residential area in Whiteabbey yesterday.

Items including old mattresses and white goods were discarded in the Glenville Park area.

Residents reported the rubbish to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

Commenting on the issue, a spokesperson for the Housing Executive said: “Domestic waste was dumped on our land at this location and was reported to us last week.

“Contractors were instructed to remove the waste and this was completed yesterday (Thursday, May 21).

“Issues like this can be reported to us by calling 03448 920 900 or via our website www.nihe.gov.uk”

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has urged residents to report incidents of fly-tipping.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: “We would remind the public that if they see any incidents of fly-tipping they can report these via our online portal which they can access via our website.”
