Drink driver was in possession of heroin wrap

A woman with a Carrick address has been banned from driving for 18 months after being detected drink driving near Ballee Roundabout in Ballymena at 11.40pm on February 17 this year.

Louise Pewtner (49), of Minorca Drive, was also found to be in possession of a heroin wrap. She was uninsured and there was also a driving licence offence.

She had a reading of 81 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

A defence barrister told Ballymena Magistrates Court Pewtner that had a “long-standing addiction to heroin” but has been engaging with an outreach programme and is due to start Subutex.

The defendant was also put on Probation for a year with a condition that she gets drug treatment or counselling and she was fined £100.
