Driver due in court after overtaking police vehicle ‘at more than twice the speed limit’ in Newtownabbey

A motorist is due to appear in court after travelling at over double the speed limit in the Carnmoney Road area of Newtownabbey yesterday afternoon.

Detailing the incident in a post on social media on Sunday, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Road Safety is an issue that affects every one of us and excessive speed is one of the biggest killers on our roads.

“This particular driver will face court for choosing to overtake a police vehicle at more than twice the speed limit on the Carnmoney Road this afternoon.”
