Driver left with ‘nowhere to go’

Police have given an insight into how they brought a suspicious vehicle to a halt in the Dungannon area on Wednesday.

In a facebook post on the Police Mid Ulster page aspokesperson said: “The Duty Inspector sighted the vehicle heading out of Dungannon. The net begins to close. With our suspicious vehicle heading towards Bush, crews begin to close in from all directions.

“A crew sets up a vehicle check point with a stinger - just incase our vehicle decides not to stop.

“With the check point ahead, the Inspector and another crew now behind, a crew coming from Coalisland... there is nowhere to go, and the trap is set.”

The vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested for motoring offences including: failing to comply with a preliminary breath test, driving whilst disqualified, no insurance and fraudulent use of a Vehicle Registration Mark (number plate.)

“The driver has been charged to court for numerous offences.”
