Stephen O’Reilly (19), of Bloomfield Park, was also ordered to spend 14 months on licence after release from prison.

O’Reilly pleaded guilty to being concerned in an offer to supply cannabis between March and September 2 to 13. He admitted further charges of obstructing police and criminal damage.

The court was told police stopped a taxi at Carnhill because the O’Reilly was a passenger. He gave a false name and when he was searched £277 in cash was seized. He was then arrested for obstruction and breach of bail.

The 19-year-old’s mobile phone was seized and a number of text messages were on the phone which indicated he was involved in the drug trace.

The court heard O’Reilly was on bail at the time for other offences and was ordered to wear an electronic tag.

During police interview he admitted he had cut the tag off and threw it in the bin.

Passing sentence, Judge Philip Babington said O’Reilly was heavily involved in the drugs trade at a lower level and was making money from it as he was not working or in receipt of benefits.

However, he added that there was no evidence he was living a higher lifestyle.

O’Reilly was jailed for two years, 10 months of which to be spent in custody and the remaining 14 months on licence.
