Electrician fined £125 for speeding

A electrician detected travelling at 81mph on the Glenshane Road, Maghera, was fined £125 with four penalty points at Magherafelt Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Aidan McErlean (39), of Crewe Manor, Maghera, was also ordered to pay a £15 offender levy.

The court heard the vehicle the defendant was driving was restricted to a 50mph limit, and the detection was made on November 7 last.

A defence lawyer said McErlean fully accepted he was travelling too fast, and needed to be more careful going forward.
