Fined £150 on speeding charge

A motorist caught speeding in a temporary 40mph zone on the Cookstown dual carriageway, was fined £150 with a £15 offender levy at Magherafelt Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

A motorist caught speeding in a temporary 40mph zone on the Cookstown dual carriageway, was fined £150 with a £15 offender levy at Magherafelt Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Jason William McClenaghan (43), of Beechway, Cookstown, was also given four penalty points arising out of the incident on June 26 last.

A court heard he was detected travelling at 70mph, 30 over the limit.

A defence solicitor said the defendant needed his licence and asked the court not to impose a disqualification,
