Stephen Kerlin, of Derrychrier Road, Dungiven, was convicted of six charges on tendered evidence after he failed to appear at Londonderry Magistrates Court.

The court heard that the dogs owned by Kerlin killed two sheep and mauled two others at a farm on the Altinure Road.

They also attempted to attack the farmer and he shot one of them with a legally owned firearm. The other Siberian Husky dog ran off.

Imposing the fine, District Judge Barney McElholm said it was a very serious incident.
