Four fall victim to telephone scam in Mid Ulster

At least four people in the Mid Ulster area have been scammed out of hundreds of pounds in the last 24 hours, according to the local PSNI.

Police are warning the public not to fall victim to the criminals.

In a Facebook post, police said: "Frustratingly four people (that we are aware of) in Mid Ulster have been scammed out of hundreds of pounds via the telephone in the last number of hours.

"We know its a repetitive message but do not engage with cold callers, regardless of it being on the phone or on the door step, they are only after your hard earned money.

"Block the caller and take the time to warn and explain the dangers to older friends and relatives who are maybe not so aware of these scammers."
