Fourteen day ban for motorist

A motorist caught driving with no seatbelt was given a 14-day ban at Magherafelt Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Geoffrey Robert Kilpatrick (56), of Tirgarvil Lane, Upperlands, was also fined £200 with a £15 offender levy.

The court heard that police observed the defendant in a white van on the Creagh Road, Toome, on September 12 last.

A defence lawyer, who handed into court two character references, said the defendant carried out essential work and has nine active points on his licence.
