Gang targeted cars say police

Shortly before 1.30am it was reported that the window of a car parked in the Rossnagalliagh area had been smashed by an unknown male.

Shortly before 2.10am it was reported that 2 males, described as being aged in their mid teens, had broke into a parked car and had attempted to enter a number of other cars parked in the Woodbrook area of the City. The males made off in the direction of Old Galliagh Road.

Shortly after 2.30am it was reported that two males were seen climbing out of a back garden of a property in the Meadows area of the City. Police conducted a check of the area for the two males without success.

Shortly after 4am it was reported that a motorcycle parked in the area of Whitehouse Park had been set on fire. Police and NIFRS attended and the fire was extinguished.

At around 7.30am it was reported that the window of a car parked in the Synge Court area of the City had been smashed sometime during the night and the inside of the car rummaged through.

At around 7.50am it was reported that a Yamaha YBR125 motorcycle had been stolen from outside a house in the Stephens Court area of the City. It is believed it was stolen sometime between 2.15am and 7.30am.

Police take these incidents seriously and they are being actively investigated. Police are firmly committed to tackling the problems in the area and making all areas of Londonderry a safer place for everyone.
