Given suspended sentence

A Lurgan man was given a suspended prison sentence last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Twenty six year old Gary Joseph John Haughian, of North Street, Lurgan, was sentenced to two months in prison, suspended for 18 months, for disorderly behaviour.

The court heard that on May 13 this year at North Street police were called to a domestic incident and the defendant was abusive to them.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said Scullion knew that he behaviour was unacceptable.

He added that his client was in much better shape now than he would have been in the past and was taking steps to get away from this sort of behaviour. The offence was alcohol induced.

He suggested that something could be left hanging over the head of the defendant.

The case had been adjourned so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

Deputy District Judge, Mr Liam McStay, said he recognised Haughian was making efforts and it was important he continued.

He was going to give him a chance and leave something hanging over his head.
