Hatchet robbery in Ballymena - police issue description

Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for information after an armed robbery at business premises in the Linenhall Street area on Friday evening (16th March).

Shortly before 7pm, it was reported that a masked man armed with a hatchet entered a shop in the area and demanaded money. It is believed that a member of staff was threatened during the incident, but was not harmed. A sum of money was taken.

The man is described as wearing a fleece type top with a silver zip with a white logo and wearing black and white shoes. Enquiries are continuing.

Police would like to speak to the passenger of a car who was in the area shortly after 7pm, who may have seen the suspect as he left the premises.
