“When you have large crowds on the streets, it is all too easy for a younger member of a group to get detached and lost.

“If you are with a group, please make sure everyone knows where they are going and at what time. If you make a plan, stick to it. A sudden change could catch someone out.

“If someone does get separated from their group, they should make contact with one of the many stewards and police officers on duty.

“If you are driving into the city, please use appropriate car parks. Do not leave your vehicle where it could cause an obstruction – particularly on ambulance routes to and from Altnagelvin Hospital.

If you intend continuing your night in the City Centre in a local licensed premises then please do so safely and ensure your behaviour does not spoil a good night. Get here safely, enjoy the night, get home safe.

“Always remember that fireworks are not toys. You should only possess a firework if you have a licence and you should only ever buy fireworks form a licensed retailer.

“Bangers are not legal. Throwing one could seriously injure someone, and you could face an assault charge.”
