Declan Kinsella, of Clooney Mews, appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court on foot of four arrest warrants and a charge of criminal damage to an electronic tag.

An investigating officer told the Court Kinsella claimed he “can’t stop himself from stealing” and he also damaged his electronic tracking tag.

He said Kinsella has nine previous convictions for theft and was not a suitable candidate for bail due to a history of not showing up for court.

Defence solicitor Keith Kyle told the court his client missed a court appearance because he was on placement in Marks & Spencer with the Prince’s Trust scheme.

District Judge Barney McElholm refused bail and Kinsella was remanded in custody until September 11.
